BASIC TRAINING FOR NEW LEADERS

GSUSA requires leaders to have the appropriate training
within six months of appointment.
All Leaders need the following three trainings.

TRAINING #1 - Getting Started with your troop

This training covers the "nuts and bolts" of how to handle the administrative part of your troop and information about your specific Council. The training will give you details on registration, parent meetings, ideas for the first few troop meetings, etc. This training should be completed before you meet with your girls for the first time.

When taking classes offered by your local Council, it is always a good idea to register for the classes to insure that they are not cancelled and/or you can be contacted if there are any changes to the scheduling.

TRAINING #2 -  Orientation to the Organization

This training gives leaders an overview of the Girl Scout movement. You'll need a Safety-Wise book, so it is best to take this training second.

Some councils are able to offer this training online or through a home study course.

TRAINING #3 - AGE LEVEL specific training

This training focuses on working with the girls in the troop and the program information available for each age level.
